5 reasons why neurodiversity training is essential for your organisation.

Between 11% and 40% of the population are neurodivergent, though not all will be diagnosed or choose to disclose their conditions. Unfortunately neurodivergent people are often under employed, meaning that their employers are not getting the full benefits of their unique perspectives. Understanding how to work effectively with neurodivergent coworkers and clients is essential for these reasons:

  1. Improved understanding and empathy: Neurodiversity training can help employees understand and empathize with individuals who have different neurological conditions, such as autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. Additionally the accommodations we will learn about can also benefit other employees, increasing workplace satisfaction across the board.

  2. Increased productivity: By providing accommodations and support for neurodivergent employees, they become more productive and contribute more effectively to the workplace.

  3. Increased retention: When neurodivergent people feel valued, understood and supported they are less likely to suffer burnout or to take their skills to another employer. Neurotypical staff will appreciate the clear and actionable training and excellent training and development opportunities increase job satisfaction and retention.

  4. Enhanced creativity: Neurodivergent individuals often have unique perspectives and ways of thinking, which can lead to increased creativity and innovation within the workplace.

  5. Better problem-solving: Neurodivergent individuals can often excel at problem-solving due to their ability to think outside the box and approach challenges in unconventional ways. Having a variety of different neurotypes within a team or organisation allows different people with different strengths to come together and solve problems which are too complex for any individual to solve.
